The Royal Bhutan Police  is responsible for maintaining law and order and prevention of crime in Bhutan. It was formed on 1 September 1965 with 555 personnel reassigned from the Royal Bhutan Army. It was then called the “Bhutan Frontier Guards.” Its independent statutory basis was first codified with the Royal Bhutan Police Act of 1980. This framework was repealed and replaced in its entirety by the Royal Bhutan Police Act of 2009.

Documents Required

  • 1. Police Service Employment Application Form
  • 2. Copies of Academic Transcript (Class 10 and 12 mark sheets & Pass certificates)
  • 3. Copy of valid CID
  • 4. Copy of valid medical fitness certificate issued by a competent RGOB Medical doctor
  • 5. Valid on line approved Security clearance certificate; and
  • 6. No Objection certificate, if employed

Criteria

  • 1. Bhutanese Citizenship Identity Card (CID).
  • 2. Produce security clearance certificate.
  • 3. Should not have any criminal record.
  • 4. Should be between 19-25 years of age as on the date of registration and the verification of age shall be based on the CID.
  • 5. Minimum Hight of 5 feet 8 inches for male and 5 feet 5 inches for female.
  • 6. Produce of PCA of (10+2) with original mark sheets from a school recognized by the Ministry of Education.
  • 7. Should have obtained pass marks in all the subjects and obtained a minimum cut off percentage as specified by the committee, and
  • 8. In-service applicants from other organization should produce No Objection Certificate from the parent organization.
  • 9. Should be unmarried.

Evaluation and Assessment Parameters:

The selection examinations for Constable Recruits shall be evaluated in three parts with corresponding weightage as under:

Part I :  Academic Achievement = 60 percent
Part II: Physical Fitness Exam = 20 percent
Part III: Interview                       =  20 percent
Total ——————————– 100 Percent

60% weightage for Academic achievement shall be calculated from the average of the Class 10 and 12. However, candidates with Bachelor’s Degree shall be given a bonus of 5%.

20% weightage for Physical fitness test shall be conducted as per the standard laid down in the Individual Physical Proficiency Exam of the Armed Forces:

(i) 2.4 Kms;
(ii) Push up; and
(iii) Sit ups.

20% weightage for the Interview shall be conducted for personality assessment out of 100 marks. Assessment shall be based on:

(a) Physique, Appearance & Manner 10 Marks
(i) General Appearance 05
(ii) Manner and disposition 05

 

(b) Language Proficiency 40 Marks
(i) Dzongkha 20
(ii) English 20

(c) Intelligence, Ability &Competence 50 Marks
(i) General awareness 10
(ii) Presentation Skills 10
(iii) Analytical ability 10
(iv) Promptness in comprehension 10
(v) Confidence 10
